Reading practice

Japanese reading practice

Something new to read, at the level you are actually at.

Ask for a passage — how long, how hard, what about — and you get one written for you. Every word in it is tappable for its reading and its meaning, every kanji is broken down into what it means on its own, and anything you keep comes back later until you know it.

1

Ask for a text

Short, medium or long. Beginner to advanced. Pick the topics you care about, and whether you want a story or a conversation. Hiragana only, or the kanji too.

2

Read it, and tap what you don't know

Each word gives its reading, its meaning and what part of speech it is. Words written in kanji are taken apart character by character, so the next compound is guessable rather than new.

3

Keep what is worth keeping

Anything you keep is asked about again — on sight, from the meaning, and written out — further apart each time you get it right, and sooner when you do not.

The reference half of the app is open. It is the same material the drills ask you about.

Start with one text

It takes a minute, and you will know by the end of the first passage whether this is how you want to study.
